Rebecca Wallis

~ Carriance

Rebecca Wallis

North Gallery, 8 Feb – 22 Mar
Gracing the walls of the North Gallery, we have an incredible show of new work by Rebecca Wallis. Rebecca’s painting practice is inspired by the texts of philosophers Julia Kristeva and Bracha Ettinger. She doesn’t merely interpret Kristeva’s ideas of abjection, or Ettinger’s notions of ‘Carriance’ of the other (which forms the title of this show). Instead, Rebecca uses these texts as an intellectual framework – a doorway in, if you like – for exploration.

Cruz Jimenez

~ Under The Moon I Planted

Cruz Jimenez

South Galelry, 8 Feb – 22 Mar
This is Cruz’s first major solo exhibition with us, and it’s a mystical (and sometimes dark) delight. These subtle and dream-like works capture the luminosity of nocturnal landscapes, where glimmers of form seep through muted celestial backdrops – perhaps even the effusive edges of personal memories, as the title of this show suggests.

Christine Jeffs

~ Subject to Consent

Christine Jeffs

Studio Gallery, 8 Feb – 22 Mar
Internationally-renowned film director Christine Jeffs has her first solo show at The Vivian with ‘Subject to Consent’, an exhibition of recent work that explores issues surrounding subject and photographer.
